One of the simplest and purest moments of love on a rainy night.
That rainy night, I saw a young man carry a girl through the water near 28 May. It looked like a tender everyday gesture—until later, when I learned he had been killed in a shooting and she asked me for this photograph. Then I understood that sometimes a photographer does not only capture an image, but preserves the last memory of a life.
